Physical Reactions

When we are grieving our bodies become a type of storage system. It holds our pain in our muscles, joints, stomach and even in our hearts. This is REAL pain and not to be taken lightly. If you are concerned at all you should go see your doctor as soon as possible.
Here are some of the ways our body reflects and holds pain in our bodies:

  • Tenseness
  • clenched jaw
  • neck and or back pain
  • upset stomach
  • having trouble taking a deep breath

Our weak spots

Most of us have weak spots in our bodies. These are the places that we are susceptible to aches and pains. Add some stress into our lives like the loss of someone we care about and that pain in the neck that we normally have becomes intensified.

Exercise and Rest

Getting some form of exercise is beneficial for both the mind and the body. Stay away from strenuous exercise for awhile unless it is something that you have done all along. Pushing ourselves to hard and too fast can catch up to us when we are grieving.

While getting exercise is important, so is taking the time to rest and relax.
